Apple Log 2 to Rec.709 Conversion LUT
As is now Apple tradition, they’ve released iPhones that can record in Apple Log 2, yet they still don’t provide an official, easy-to-download LUT for converting to Rec.709. While a few opportunists sell over-priced LUTs, I decided to fix that.
I built two free, high-precision conversion LUTs that take Apple Log 2 straight to Rec.709:
- AppleLog2_to_Rec709_33_Grid.cube → perfect for on-set monitors (Atomos, SmallHD, etc.)
- AppleLog2_to_Rec709_65_Grid.cube → 65-point grid for Adobe Premiere & DaVinci Resolve
If you shoot ProRes RAW on non-Apple recorders (e.g., Atomos Ninja) and switch the “RAW → Log” setting to Apple Log 2, I’ve got you covered too:
Download them, drop them in your LUT folder, and grade away. If these save you time (or money), feel free to buy me a coffee: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/RodrigoPolo
